AFTERCARE
(TATTOO)
Tattoo
Leave your saniderm on for 4 to 5 days. This method of aftercare ensures that your tattoo is protected from contaminants, and it is also water resistant, so go ahead and shower as usual.
If any of the liquid leaks out of the saniderm, remove it and care for your tattoo using the directions provided below.
The best way to remove your saniderm is the slowly peel it off in the shower. Thoroughly clean the tattoo with fragrance free, antibacterial soap with two fingers in a circular motion. Let the tattoo air dry, do not touch any towels.
After removal, wash with antibacterial soap and moisturize your tattoo with a light layer of fragrance free lotion twice a day.
Keep your tattoo out of pools, hot tubs, baths, and sunlight for at least two weeks. Your tattoo may peel like a sunburn and some light scabbing may occur, but do not pick at it. Pat your tattoo lightly to alleviate itching instead of scratching.

Piercing
SEA SALT
CLEAN PIERCINGS 2 X's A DAY...MORNING / NIGHT
-
Clean the piercing with sea salt and water. Soak twice a day and do not stop until the end of the two weeks.
-
Warm water (3oz) + Sea salt (1/4 tablespoon) mixed in a cup. Soak the piercing in for 2 to 3 minutes, 2 times a day for 2 weeks. Use a Q-tip to clean around the piercing thoroughly, rinse with water and pat it dry with a paper towel. (Non iodized salt is cheap and easy to find)
-
Until the piercing is fully healed don't: Touch it, twist the jewelry, change the jewelry or take it out (not even once), sleep on it, play with it, but only touch it with freshly washed hands to clean it.
-
Use only studs/barbells until piercing is fully healed. If requesting hoops/horseshoes, healing will take longer.
-
Do not change for take out piercing for at least four months.
-
If a bump/keloid appears treat it by exfoliating the area with warm water and salt until it breaks down and disappears.
-
Any kind of irritation like playing with the piercing - touching it etc., can trigger hypertrophic scarring*.
-
In most cases hypertrophic scarring bumps start to appear after an early jewelry change and when we mistakenly think that our piercing is already fully healed so we stop caring for it.
-
If you take the safe road and follow the aftercare for the whole healing period you have nothing to fear.
-
Do not use harsh ointments or tea tree oils on an unhealed piercing aka an open wound. This will only make the bump/keloid even worse.
-
Do not use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Both slow the healing of the piercing by drying and killing new healthy cells.
Oral Piercings
-
Clean mouth with mouthwash and/or sea salt + warm water
-
Mouthwash that contains alcohol is not suggested - may burn a new piercing
-
If using mouthwash with alcohol, dilute out using half water/half mouthwash solution to lessen the intensity
-
Use mouthwash for at least 2 weeks every time you have something in your mouth except water
SUGGESTION: WEAR A BAND AID TO BED FOR A MINIMUM OF 1 MONTH, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A ROUGH SLEEPER.
*Hypertrophic scarring - deposits of excess amounts of collagen which gives rise to a raised scar, but not to the degree observed with keloids and may fade with time.
